China will increase the fuel surcharge for flights between the mainland and the island city, Hong Kong. The increased cost of jet fuel causing by surging oil prices has necessitated the hike in the fuel surcharge. The increase will mean the cost of a flight from Hong Kong to Beijing will increase by HK$109 (14.05US$) per person and a return flight Hong Kong - Beijing -Hong Kong will increase by HK$218 (28.1US$). The increase will take effect from June 1st and it applies to all tickets including infants.
