Xinjiang Opens Exploring the Jade Culture Tourist Route

Jiemo County in China's Northwest Xinjiang Province has recently opened a new tourist route for those wishing to explore the region's jade culture. The new tour route called" Exploring Hotan Jade Culture Tour"will provide travelers with opportunities to experience the area's jade mining culture and history as well as to enjoy the unique natural beauty of the Kunlun Mountains. Visitors can actually mine jade like generations of Chinese miners before them.

The Tatelekesu Jade Mine was chose as the destination after being tested and inspected over 2 years by the local authorities. The mine is famous for the vast amounts of Jade material that are to be found in it. The largest piece ever found in the mine was a very large piece of jade weighing 1000 kg. The mine is easily accessible.The 7,000 year old Emperor mine which was named because it supplied jade to the royal family in ancient times and is located on the route to the Tatelekese jade Mine.

Jiemu County is surrounded by the Kunlun Mountain in the south and by the Taklimakan Desert to the north. The area is well-known for its long history and abundant mine resources. The ancient Chinese Silk Road ran through this region and left behind numerous cultural and historic relics.
