Local government of the Fenghuang County recently announced that it planed to invest a total of 280 million yuan to exploit the Fenghuang geological park.

The exploitation project will be carried out on a comprehensive scale that aims to protect the geological features during exploitation.

The local government strictly prohibits exploitation activities that either destroy the physiognomy, or taken at discretion. In addition, the government plans to set up a management team and carry an on-site inspection so as to draw a detailed, feasible exploitation plan.

The charm of the Fenghuang ancient town was widely known through the novel Biancheng, written by famous writer Sheng Congwen. The geological park covers an area of 157 square kilometers and is dotted with numerous geological features like grottoes, valleys, mountain peaks and waterfalls.
