China has been named this year's world's best tourist destination, according to officials at the World Tourism Organization.

During the first 10 months of 2004, figures from local authorities show travelers to and from China reaching their highest ever in history.

Beautiful natural scenery and rich historical heritage are the main attractions for the estimated 100 million visitors this year.

At the same time, more Chinese are venturing overseas. Specifically, so far this year, about 23 million people have travelled abroad, and their destinations have also expanded to more than 60 countries and regions.
