By Air:

Phoenix Airport is 20 km northwest away from the city. Now, there are more than 30 national direct flights to Sanya including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Shenyang, Wuhan, Qingdao, and 9 international airlines from Singapore, HongKong, Malasia, Thailand, Seoul, Tokyo and Osaka.
There is a highway linking the airport and the city center. You can take a taxi or a bus to the city centre. In addition there are direct buses to Sanya Bay and Dadonghai at the airport.

By Bus:

Air-conditioned buses go from Haikou to Sanya every hour and take about three hours. The main bus station, Sanya Bus Station in Sanya is at the Jiefang Road. Every 20 minutes, the buses return to Haikou.

City Transport:

Taxi:
The various beaches and sights in Sanya are a fair distance apart. Taking a taxi or hiring a driver is the most convenient way to reach the destinations. Paying RMB5 for the taxi cost, you can get to the city center but to the scenic spot you should haggle the price with the taxi driver first.
Generally from city center to Sanya Bay the taxi cost is RMB25, to Dadonghai beach RMB10 is enough and to Yalong Bay you should pay RMB50.

Bus:
In Sanya, there are 3 main lines of bus. They are No.2 bus, No.4 bus and the bus of Yalong Bay direction.

Motorbike:
Motorbikes are very popular in Sanya. However, generally they are operated illegally and very dangerous .We suggest you not to choose them as your main traffic tool during your trip.

Renting Cars:
If you want to have a comfortable trip, you can rent a car. Normally all hotels of Sanya have this service. You can consult the price at the hall of hotel. Additionally there are many companies supplying this service. After searching some information on them, comparing their prices and then make the final decision.

To hire a car needs RMB5,000 as the guarantee, at the same time ID card, return ticket, and driving license are necessary. You needn't pay for the cost of maintaining road or any other cost. The only cost is the expenses of gasoline

Recommended self-driving:

Sanya is the most suitable city to drive the open cars. Driving an open car along the famous Binghai Blvd, listening to the sound of the seawater, taking in the fresh air and enjoying the beautiful sea scenery will be a wonderful experience. The whole journey from the beginning to the end of the road is 30 minutes. Moreover on the way there are many kinds of delicious seafood for you to choose.
