Qingdao has long been noted as a tourist resort, both for its history and culture.The city also plays a significant role in China's eastern coast economy.Qingdao has well developed port facilities and marine science research and is one of 8 Chinese cities qualified for hosting international conferences.Qingdao will host the sailing events of the 2008 Olymic Games.

Qingdao is located on the Shandong Peninsular and on the bank of the Yellow sea.Qingdao is a major port in China's eastern costal area and plays an important role in international cargo and passenger transport with a total area of 10.645 square km and a total population of 6.95 million (2.27 million in the urban district).Qingdao is in fact one of China's most important economic cities and is the nation's fourth largest port. Japanese educational tourists are allowed to enter Qingdao without visas and travellers holding Japanese,Singaporean and Brunei passports are allowed to stay in Qingdao for 15 days.Ninety-eight domestic and nine intertational flight routes are in operation from Qingdao airport and the city has efficient railway and highway facilities and services. It takes only one-hour to fly to either Beijing or Shanghai from Qingdao.

Qingdao is partially surrounded by Jiaozhou Bay and situated in a costal hilly area which characterizes charming scenery and mild climate.Qingdao has rich tourist attractions,including Mt.Laoshan,European architecture,former residences of Chinese historical celebrities,morden facilities for tourism ,business,conferences and exhibitions.

With rich natural resources ,a long history of Chinese culture ,many traditional folk events and well-developed transportation,Qingdao receives 17 million domestic and overseas tourists annually.

The annual mean temperature in Qingdao is 12.2°C.january is the coldest winter month with an average temperature of -1.2°C and Auguest is the hottest summer month with an average temperature of 25.1°C.
