Aviation
Currently there are no airlines to Europe,North America and Oceania in Hangzhou. Tourists from countries of these areas to Hangzhou can transfer at Shanghai.

Now more than 40 airlines have been opened in Hangzhou.From Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport you can not only reach Tokyo,Osaka,but also more than 30 other big-middle cities and areas including Seoul,Bangkok,Singapore,Hongkong,Macau,Beijing,Shanghai and Guangzhou directly.

Lying at Xiaoshan District with a distance of 27 kilometers to the downtown of Hangzhou,Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport is a first class national airport in China and the largest airport in Zhejiang province.

Railway
Connected with Chinese railway network by Shanghai-Hangzhou,Zhejiang-Jiangxi,Hangzhou-Ningbo,Xuancheng-Hangzhou railways,Hangzhou is the center of railway transportation in Zhejiang province,so it is convient to go into and out of Hangzhou city area by train. You can reach major Chinese cities like Beijing,Shanghai,Chongqing,Guangzhou,Xi'an,Nanjing and Guilin by train from Hangzhou. The railway transportation between Hangzhou and Shanghai is even more concient. Everyday there are five speedy trains starting from each of the two cities and going to the other. It only takes about one hour and fifty minutes.It takes only thirteen and a half hours from Hangzhou to Beijing in an extra-speedy non-stop train.

There are two passenger transport railway stations in Hangzhou,namely Hangzhou Railway Station (major one) and East Railway Station.

Shipping Transportation(Waterway)
There are mainly two freshwater routes to go into and out of Hangzhou city through waterway,namely the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal and the Qiantang River. At present the only waterway passenger transport available is the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal which provides Hangzhou-Suzhou tourist route.The feature of this route is that the travel boats set off in the evening and reach Suzhou in the morning without stop.You can have a good sleep in the boat and find yourself in Suzhou when awake.It is economical (you don't need to pay for the hotel expenses)and time-saving and will not take up the time of travelling in the daytime.

Highway and Long Distance Passenger Transport
Hangzhou has a well-developed highway network.There are 9 artery highways:Hu Hang Expressway,Hang Ning Expressway,Hang Yong Expressway,Hang Jin Qu Expressway,104 National Highway,320 National Highway,01,02 and 03 provincial Highways. The roads are connected with other roads leading to counties and cities in the suburbs by the city-surrounding highway, making the transportation more convenient.There are four long-distance bus stations for passenger transportation,namely East,South,West and North Bus Stations. Passenger transport buses include Zhejiang Speedy Passenger Tansport Bus,Extra-speedy Passenger Transport Bus,Common Passenger Transport Bus and Zhejiang Speedy Tour Bus.

There are lots of buses in the city area of Hangzhou.Public Transportation lines to scenic spots are Bus Y1-Y7,Y9 and K7;On Bus Y1,Y2and Y9 there are traffic guides introducing scenic spots on the way in Chinese.What's more,the stops are reported in both Chinese and English.The routes of West Lake night tour are No.1 night tour route(Wulin square is the starting and end stop) and No.2 night tour route(Hangzhou Railway Station is the starting and end stop).

Buses are generally classified into common buses,air-conditioned buses (there is a K before the route number),two-floor buses and medium-sized buses.Most of the buses adopt one-ticket system.One ticket costs RMB 1 on common buses, RMB 2 on air-conditioned ones,RMB 3 to 5 on tour buses and RMB 5 on night tour buses.Most are self-service busesand don't provide any change.So passengers have to prepare some change before getting on buses.Meanwhile,pasengers can use public transport IC card.

Taxi
The modle and condition of taxis in Hangzhou are one of the best among Chinese cities.It is very convenient to take a taxi in Hangzhou and there is 24 hour service.Taxies charge according to the meter.The start price is RMB 10 within 4 kilometers.RMB 2 a kilometer is charged within 8 kilometers and RMB 2.4 a kilometer beyond 8 kilometers.RMB 2 per 5 miniutes is charged for waiting.

Located at the stadium in the east of the Yellow Dragon Sports Center,Hangzhou Tour Bus Center is a tour supermarket with a combination of multifuncations including self-helpingtravelling,tourist information consulation and passenger transfer. In May 2004,tour bus centers in Hangzhou,Shanghai and Nanjing realized online ticket booking.Tourists in any of the three tour bus centers can buy a ticket to any of the scenic spots in the other two cities."One ticket to anywhere" in the real sense has been realized.
